Dr Galan is a neurologist specialist in neuromuscular diseases at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid, Neuromuscular Unit.  She has worked in the neuromuscular diseases and neuropathology in Porto, Portugal and after that in Madrid. Her main passions are patient care and medical education. She is an expert in TTR amyloidosis and has actively participated in the creation of a multidisciplinary team for the care of patients with this disease.

She has participated in several studies in this disease as well as in several international consensus meetings for the diagnosis, follow up, and care of this disease. .She is also very interested in rare diseases in general and is one of the members of Singulares rare disease research platform in Spain. As a medical educator, her main goal is to raise awareness in rare diseases, specially neurological rare disease. She has been part of the board of the Spanish Society of Neurology as well as a scientific advisor for the Medical College of Madrid. Recently she has been designed representative for the Spanish Society of Neurology in the neuropathy panel of the European Academy of Neurology
