Incorporating Biosimilars into Treatment Plans for Inflammatory Gastroenterological Disorders

Program Overview

In this module, Francis A. Farraye, MD, MSc, along with Beth Faiman, PhD, MSN, APN-BC, AOCN, course chair and Jonathan Kay, MD, will analyze current clinical trial of data of biosimilar agents, particularly in gastroenterological disorders. Efficacy and immunogenicity in both induction and switching studies will be reviewed, and clinical relevance debated. The expert faculty will also relay societal guidelines regarding the use of biosimilars in gastroenterological disorders, highlighting the areas of discrepancy. At the conclusion of this 30-minute interview segment, clinicians will better understand how to apply current clinical trial data to practice.

Target Audience

Healthcare professionals that treat inflammatory conditions, including gastroenterologists, rheumatologists, primary care practitioners, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and physician assistants

Learning Objective

  1. Evaluate the science and clinical trial data of current and emerging biosimilars for the treatment of inflammatory conditions to improve the healthcare team’s understanding on the pharmacokinetic similarity, safety, and efficacy
